This was taken about 24 hours after the fire that destroyed a city block on Queen street in February 2008. The word Video is all that’s left of my friend’s video rental shop. To the right of this shot are the rubble remains of a 3 story building that housed a family business, Duke’s Cycle Bike shop, for over 50 years. Incredibly, no one was hurt in the fire but about 60 people lost their homes or businesses.

I Love alleys and this one caught my eye today. They always remind me of cities now long gone. It’s as if the front of the buildings change and are modernized but they alleys are still stuck in another century, like a physical snapshot of what cities once were. I have no idea where the previous century’s alleys are still represented, maybe the Alley is the end of the line.
