Foto d’Italia

August 6th, 2008

Just back from a 2 week visit to Italy. Taking photos in Italy is a strange experience. The country is full of postcard views and every photo looks like a cliche. I took many, and it will be a while before I look at them all, but I will share the ones that I like. This one, though not in chronological order, is from a half day spent in the beautiful town of Siena.

Supermarket

July 11th, 2008

Back to the neighbourhood.

The first time I bought something here I was very offended when the cashier didn’t even look at me, never mind saying thank you, but I soon learned that it’s just the way they do business, none of the cashiers ever make eye contact or talk to any of the customers. A chatless transaction everytime. The guys in the doctors uniforms work feverishly all day long, thats why they are blury.
And they all wear gloves.
I love that this photo looks like it could be anywhere, but it’s very Toronto.

I’m very sad to say that my favourite model and best pal for the last 19 years died last thursday the 26th of June. I was very lucky to know him for so long.

Here’s an extra link to a photo of us “off the set”
